Pigeons on the empire state building...

So I recentlly took a trip to NYC and thought it funny to see pigoens 86 stories in the air roosting on the obsewrvation deck. I wanted to upload a pic, but google won't let me if anyone wants one let me know.
Anyhow another wierd thing was that all the pigoens were a very dark color, maybe their own New york subspecies? Since the pigoens were very diferent when we were on the streets, lots of different color patterns. I raelly can't think of what is up there that they would want, its unbelievcably windy, cold right now, and the closest food source would be someone dropping something out there, but that's not very common, at least not the day we were there. So they would need to make quite a trip down to get any food, and then the trip up to roost, wow, not worth it. Anyhow anyone have any thouyghts about my thoughgtless meadnerin?

That is yeah I dont know about the roosting at night, I didn't see any nests up there. Pigeons are all over NYC, and hawks too from what I undertstand, Pale Male bein the most famous. It would be interesting to see how hawk teritories work with all those buildings, I wonder if they are smaller or larger, since they don't have line of sight around many of the buildings. The trip I wouldn't imagine would be too much for the pigeons, but it is still extraneous, since it is so much higher than namely everything else. The other curoius geologically thing was that they were all a very dark color, we did not see any other color paterns up there but the one, I've never seen pigeons flock by color before, but I'm also quite new into the hobby, so what do I know :-) Anyhow just thought it was strange.
