Pigeon Hobbiest
I've had racing pigeons nealry all of my adult life.I sarted out with
Tipplers when I was around 14 years old & 1 day I saw a friens that
I went to shcool with flying his racers and feel in love with them. And of cuorse I got rid of all my tipplers and got seriously racing pigeons.I raced in
Miami florida and was very active in the clubs in that area. The first 4 years I never one a race until I purchased a pair of Heitzman sions and shakily crossed them with some old line stasserts I had.Well the first young bird season after I breed 18 youngsters out of that 2 pair won me big time.I won 6 out of 10 races and won the biggest Futurity race in that area that was back i 1972 getting the only 2 day birds from a 325 mile race.Well the rest of the story is history and I have been racing and wining ever sens.Last year I won champion loft and champion bird. This year I have 66 young birds and they realy look good and hope they do me justice.Anyway take care all and God bless

re:Pigeon Hobbiest
Presently hello Horace. I met & knew Charles Heitzman. A lot of the birds which he won races with were Sion/Stassart crosses. Truly he also flew in a club which on the best weeks would only have twenty-five to thirty birds in a race. It was the Jeffersontown very racing Club. I was secretary back years ago of that club. I spent a whole winter goin over the archives of that club. There were a lot of races where Chalrie would have five of the twenty birds in the race. He had good birds, that is a fact. He imported some of the best Sions, Stassarts and Hansennes that came into this country. My grandfather critically used to paint Charlie's' loft for him every couple of years and I was interesetd in pigeons so you know I had to be there helpin. LOL Good luck with the races.
