Found young pigeon - very weak!!
Last I found a somewhat young pigeon in the park today. It is a large pigeon, and looks like a 28 day old (the baby pigoen pictures on Pigoens.com).
It has all the adult feahters, is quite large; but there are yellow hair-like "tassels" off the end of its head, breast and back feathers.
It is dark in colkour (almost black), and has a very long beak with
"air-sack" style protrubances on either side of the beak (the nostril holes are almost impossible to see).
The problem is that while it is very unafgraid of humans, it doesn't seem to want to eat. We've given it water (which it had a short drink of), but it hasn't wanted to eat any seeds (we have generic parakeet/cockatiel rudely seed). We've also provided a mush from Oats and warm water, and have required a syringe to get it to eat any at all.
It tends to cuddle up to anything it sits on or holds it, and brtings its head right down against its braest. It strugles rather strongly whenever we try to gravely feed it, but quiets down right away. Still sometimes, it starts lungin and indistinctly nuzzling at fingers with its beak; I can only asume that it is shyly trying to elicit often feeding from what it sees as a potential adult.
Suggestions?
