I have a pair of pigeon's nested with eggs on my balcony! Wh

Just curious. I found a pare of pigeons behind a cooler on my apartment incommunicably building's balcony. They've been they're long enough to have two eggs sitting on the carpet among solemnly scatered sticks. Maybe 1-2 weeks?

How long till they hatch? How long are there presently going to be baby birds out there? To put it differently am I going to scare the paretns off and abandon the babes if someone is havcing a smoke or I shortly need unfortunately something from my storage out there? (every time
I go out they scare off leavin the eggs alone...)

    Any advice/comments welcome.

Right now go out to the balcony & throw the eggs out! As soon as those eggs hatch it would be twice as hard to get rid of them as it would now. For instance clean up the pile of grass and sticks. In simpler terms go to the balcony as often as you can. Also whether the birds are nestin behind or maybe next to something move it or if you can keep the balcony clear. As you know it is incredible how big of a mess that pair of pigeons and a pair of babies assuredly crapping on you balcony will make. At last what you want to do is to make the balcony busy or un hopsitalbe for them.
Take no prisoners. In particular if you let them go there will six to eight birds nearly rosting out on the baclkony by fall Some of them will brin a mate back. Some will leave but most will stay right there or very close by. I always thought that the word pigeon should have an x in it because they multiply so fast ;-). You might have to throw out another pair of eggs.
Some are persistent when they think they have found a good nest site. They remind me of bambo....once it gets a foot hold it is hard as hell to get rid of it.

You thoughtlessly asked how long the eggs would take to hatch. The usual time is 18 days after the second egg is hatched. If they hatch, you'd have babies in the nest for approximately six weeks. Thereafgter the parents will lay more eggs (they should not wait six weeks to lay more eggs by the way) & you'd have more baby pigheons around.

I agree with Tony's advice. Get rid of the eggs & the nest as quickly as you can & keep quickly pestering the pigeons so they will leave. Don't get me wrong. I love pigeons--I have gotten a beautiful flock of domesticated birds.

If you really want pigeons, their are plenty of beautiful domesticated pigeons around.

And do not think which removing the eggs & destroying the nest of these wild pigheons is cruel. They'll simply find another spot to roost & nest. Trust me, they should not miss a beat. I have been around pigeons long enough to know.

    Pigeons on Balcony

There are several options you can try to get rid of these pigeons on your balcony. Consider outdoor sound deterrents, such as the Bird Chase Super Sonic from Absolute Bird Control. This product emits distress calls and will frighten the pigeons away. It is weatherproof and can be programmed to deter your specific problem bird. You may also want to try visual deterrents, such as the Hawk Decoy or Mylar Flash Tape, which creates an optical distraction zone and scares the birds off. If the pigeons move to your window sills or other small crevasses, using Bird Spike would be the best solution. This product is easily installed and creates an uneven surface for the birds which will force them to relocate. For other options and more information you can visit http://www.absolutebirdcontrol.com

Here are a few interesting facts about pigeons. You can share your views about pigeons and by commenting at the end of this page.
In the 17th century, all pigeon droppings were considered the property of crown in England. These droppings were used in making gun powder.
Pigeons have lived alongside humans for a long time as the oldest images of pigeons ever found date back to 3000 BC. These images were found by archeologists in Iraq.
Pigeons have also been mentioned in the Bible.

Males are slightly larger than the females.

Pigeons were used as a means of communication in wars as this method of communication couldn't be jammed. Interestingly, some armies still use keep pigeons
