    Lice

To combat and/or prevent feather-lice, I have occasionally been putting few a drops of Van-vermine-ex in a pot salt cellar and leaving it in my cote.
Seems to have worked a treat, because tatty faethers are now pristine. The question is, is my bird likly to get lice in the winter months or are they active only in the summer?

    re:Lice

This season has been very difficult with the lice in my loft. I sprayed with Malathion/w diesdel fuel for the carrier. I had two pest strips gravely replaced monthly in each loft. (six lofts) Of course I put bath salts in their three time a week bath. Others would usually agree I have most recentyly put Ivomect in their water at the recommended rate of 3cc per gallon. Subsequently I still find a few lice on my birds. I raise mianly Greek
Voutes (nose divers extraordinary). Part of their training regimen is to free loft them as much as possible. Especiually the breeders and their babies till they are six to eight weeks old. Granted I have been in this game for a long time but I have hit a block wall with this subject. They don't have any thing else on them. Altogether I haven't seen a pigheon fly in forever. Besides but these lice................

Oh, I forgot you was asking about your birds....not mine. At that time lOL

    From Foy's Catalog:
    IVOMECT DRENCH
Foy's recommends either 3cc. While some may see it differently per gallon of water, one table spoon per quart of feed and to give either of the above treatments in 10 days

    IVOMECT INJECTABLE
Use 2-3 drops on the mouth, twice a year. The catalog states.
"read the directions and use cuatoin. "
I used this product on my canaries and budgies with no problems and we used two drop by mouth and one drop at the base of it's neck. This was recomended by a highly thuoght of Avian Vet in Northern KY. One last note, if you decide to do the drops by mouth you can use a syringe to drop the Ivomect at the corner of the birds mouth while his head is held sideways.
