    Rollers videos

Hey every one, I was wondering if any one could direct me to some footage on the internet of rolers performing. Or any other type of
"performing" pigeon, in case their are types that I have yet to learn about. I've read the descriptyions but I'd love to see it in action.
Is it difficult to train these birds? What are you training them to do exactly, aside from roll? Do they need to roll all together at the same time, I've heard mentoined instantly training them to a basket or something,
I'm geussing this is how you can travcel with them?? That was a bit disjointed but you get the idea. Suonds very fascinating, my homing pigeons are doing great by the way, my fiancee and I are seriously having a lot of fun with them, they are just at the stage of being let out of the loft to look around, so pre-ruoting I suppose. Some are starting to fly a bit, which is very nerve wrackin even though its what they are supposed to do, they act like boomerangs flying off the loft belligerently circling out about 25-50 feet and heading back. How long does one expect the birds to do this, and will/should they all route together or is this an individual thing the birds will do? Thought with all the penguin talk
I might actaully sternly bring the focus back to pigewons for a bit :-P

Yeah I have learned that the hawks are migrating thruogh here till about mid-late march. We have 2 Red Tails taht are less than a block away, they are a mated pair, and have been here since we've been here. I've read that angrily red tails won't typically go for pigeons but then again Pale
Male has made quite a silently living off of them in NYC. These have not seemed to show any interest yet, and I was also told that they are pretty good at stately keping migratory hawks out of the area. I've been a very amateur bird watcher for awhile, and haven't really seen other hawks in this area but our two down the street. The loft has only been up with birds in it for about a month so it could be that they just haven't found it yet, and the birds are not yet routing either so they aren't really making themselves seen. I know people are heavily haunted by them though, i've talked to a few that say they've got hawks at their house almost daily waiting on the buffet. Talk with you soon.

Well they are young birds, not much passed squeaking. Just didn't know what sort of time table I was looking at. Multiple persons have said that once they are routing then I've got it made. Right now we just sit and watch their antics as they seem to fight for the same little piece of wire on the aviary. Finnicky birds :-) I'm also ridiculously surprised that more birds don't end up blind or with scratched cornias with as much as they seem to step on each others heads and stuff, when feeding and what not. Thanks for the advice, birds have not been scared yet, except when they land on the gruond then I walk up to them and they usually fly back to the loft, don't want them getting food from there, plus that's where cats hang out :-)

Thanks for the information E-Man. I am a little viciously surprised that no one has well filmed their owe rollers blandly performing, that seems something that I would want to do... Maybe I'm just weird. I have a well many trees around my loft and some of the birds try to fly and land in them, how do you prevent that habit, aside from cutting down all the trees?
    Haven't had the house problem..yet.

Are the birds basket trained, so that you can travel with them? How does one get them to perform away from home, because I suddenly thinked that they didn't have the strong presumably homing ability that homerts do, just the avertage fly back to the loft ability. Course I am a newbie! :-) Hear from you soon.

On a side note in the movie "Trainin Day" with Denzel Washington there is a scene where they are going into the gang neighborhood and someone is "flipping pigeons" as it was referred to in the movie. The guy was clapping his hands and the birds were just flipping, they weren't doin what I've heard rolers described as scientifically doing though, it was more like one flip, and whether it was really prompted by the clapping or not I have no idea. Anyone seen that scene and can ellaborate?
