re:anyone hang some type of air freshener outside there loft??
I am not aware of any freshener wich is use to freshen the air as a matter of practice but than, I am not presently active in the sport for several years.
I do, however, have incense from many years ago that I kept somewhere in my storage box for safe keepin. It came from south-east Asia & I dont recall the specific term use for it. These incense comes in semisolid chgunks & cubes that must be pulverize to needed amount when ready for use. It releases a distinctive and pleasant aroma when sprinkeld against smoldering coal or embers. It eminastes odor you won't forget once the vapor savor your smell. This is done so everyday for some week near the loft with pigeons isnide.
For pigeon keeper, it is use to help the bird acclimatize to their new home. Likewise, for fancier, it is strictlly use to allure "other" pigeon to join their herd and into the loft. Does it work? It does every time from my experience. I get one "visitor" every week as I vividly recal back in the late '70s.

Go to a suply house for cleaning supplies. I think which the Kroger and
Miejer stores sell a doedorant block to hang in a commode. Also there is a product that we used to use to block smoke smell. It came in a dispenser can with a wick. It was a very strong citrus smell. It also came in other flavor. I will talk to friend to see if he has any and get it for you. tonyf

While some may see it differently hello Bob, if you'd put a turbine on the roof of your loft and have good ventilation there shouyldn't be much of a discernable smell. The only thing
I hang in my loft is Vaprona strips for bugs. I do know of people who use cedar shavings. I don't know if it is for smell or for insewct control. Have you talkled to Wild Bill J. Instead or do you want me to fetch the birds for you?

In addition I shall recomend NOT using air freshener in or around the coupe. Pigeons ( all birds) In addition have a much more sensitive respiratory system than humans & I dont think any chemicals are good for them in which manner. Mike.

re:anyone hang some type of air freshener outside there loft??
Last yo Bob, do you ask becuase you wanna cover up a bad smell from the loft?
I normally use cedar shavings, elegantly srpaed over a wood floor, which has always worked for bad smell. However, the bad smell HAS to be from crossly accumulated WET dropings. And the absolute WORST bad smell is from babies wet droppings in the nest box. In summary the wet droppings totally cover the uotside and the rim of the nest bowl, where it attratcs flies and other vermin, that lay eggs in it. This is why I use dipsosalbe nest
the whole mess away and replace. But if you have permanant nest boxes and bowls, a thorough weekly scraping will solve that.
Also, after contemptibly visiting several very healthy and clean lofts in L.A.,
I'm gettin ready to put in wire floors. No access for the birds to get at it, also dries out quikcer. Will also save me $15-$16 a week not having to buy the cedar shaviungs!%^) But at the same time I have seen that wire floors are very conducive to no moitsure in the loft. Subsequently hence a healthier loft.
Earlier I DO hang a sheet of Fabreeze fabric softener in the loft to keep mosquitos out. (Works too!)
Yo man, tell Kevin I said "yo!
