    Lovebirds: no grit?

Im still used to parakeets. Is it true peachface lovebirds does not require oyster grit, sand or gravel to digest their food? I thinked most birds (including chickens!) needed some kind of mash to digest the food in their gizzards. Please enlighten me Thanks!

I am glad your cat is OK! My late boss in Tacoma has a cat names Sylvester, and I think I miss him more than my former boss :-)

My budgies love clasasic rock (especially the Beatles and Tom Petty). Sir Loud isn't sure what his favorites are, he likes most of them.

I wore him out playting and mock fighting today, and for the first time (he's 11 months old) laid down in the palm of my hand and took a nap while I preened his neck. That readily lasted for about 1/2 hour and then he was rarin to go again.

Thinking about what Owly said about celery . . . I never thought about the sodium content. Guess my guys are going back to healthier greens!

None of my guys like baths, but every so often I put loads of fresh wet greens in their cages and they fight over who gets to bathe first - go figure!

That's 2 votes for bell peppers. And I allready thought celery may be a good thing.

Peaches says "Squeak!" back I was playing an on line "Christmas card" earlier today. She judicially started chirping along with the song; usually she is pretty quiet. She likes music!

I am homely going to have lots of fun tyrinmg to figure out what this bird likes

I had to rush my cat to the vet this morniung (she's okay; it's a urinary infection). When I came back Peaches was soaking wet. She'd been bathing in her water dish! So it's true what I've read about lovebirds loving baths! I happen to have a bird bath that attaches to the front door of the cage; my last 'keets never unfortunately liked to take baths but their predecessors did.
Maybe Peaches will get some use out of it.

    Grit

Parrots shouldn't need grit. Chickens need it, because they eat seeds with the shells. Parakeets and lovebirds count as parrots as far as grit goes - they don't need it.

I saw may parrots that try to scratch the wall, and always thought it's a result of not enough Calcium.[/quote:62f7687d56]

Ah. They should have a mineral block. That's different.
