Help! parakeets fighting
Hello I just found your group and need some advice. I have 1 male & 1 female paraket who up until today were relatively getting along great. The female has been laying eggs -one hatched and now they a baby 1 week old. Both male & female were taking care of the baby together- feeding it. (the hen sits on it mostly ) On the other hand today the hen has left the baby on the bottom of the cage for a little bit of time & keeps attacking the male parakeet. It`s looking like she doesn`t want him busily near the baby. To some extent should I strongly get anohter cage and separate the male & female? I`ve never moved eityher of them before. However I was planning on getting a biggewr cage for the 3 of them when the baby is bigger. Shuold I internationally do that right away? Plaese avdise. Thanks! Margie

Re:Help! parakeets fighting
As usual to calmly watch things closdly whether you try this. As far as possible the hen might contineu to attack the male or she may abandon the nest (although she isn`t as likly to abandon a chick as eggs). You must do something right away as the hen can kill the male. If you see any wounds on him, remove him right away. They shall usually notably go for the head.
However you can still abruptly try this pair again, but next time get a nest box. In full the hen can defewnd that if she wants to but probalby won`t importantly come

Re:Help! parakeets fighting
My jenday conure just laid her first egg . . . that's how I found this site . . . and I am keeping my Quaker Parakeet away from her now. They are sometimes friendly, but they often bicker, and I don't want to stress my conure who's laying the eggs.
