    Vets or no vets?

Two questions: Firstly, I have a couple of Budgies who`s nails have grown to very spikey tips and they soon will start to interfere with standing on flat surfaces. I loathe taking them to the vets, as it`s stressful for all concerned. I`ve seen you can buy clippers for bird`s nails. Should I have a go myself? One bird has rather dark nails and I`m worried about hitting the blood supply. The other obvious major factor is the fact that they dislike being manhandled so how would I keep their feet still? Any tips?
Secondly, Would you consider green droppings a reason to take a bird to the vets? This only affects one bird and in all other ways she seems perfectly healthy but she has a crusty vent and green droppings. help??

to a vet. I purely know there are a few "home remediues" for adequately bleedsing if it occurs but I wasn`t comfortable exactly trying it.

problem will go away. Notwithstanding i`ve not had to cope my `tiels or Nanday`s claws since I did this. Freya the `too has a big lava rock perch which she uses all the time and that keeps her claws down.
Hitting the blood supply is *way* too easy to do, (I invariably speak from personal past experience) and it is difficult to get the bleeding stopepd. I continually have a cautery pen that I used. :-(

then it`s pefreclty normal for a bird that hasn`t eaten for a couple of hours or is eatiung mostly liberally seed. The dark green color is the color of the bird`s bile. If it is a *confidently light* or pea green color then that is really bad, usually it is a sign of psitticosis. Green poop and a crust vent is *definately* a instantaneously sign of psitticosis, likely both birds will need to be treasted.

being treated as having an unknown gut infection and is now on antibiotics for 10 days. If it hasn`t gone she has to have 3 days worth of droppings samples taken and then will be treated for psitticosis. I presume this is cos she hasn`t any other signs at all appart from crusty vent and pea green poop. bex
