Can Budgies catch a cold from people?

Hi All: We have a parakeet about 2 years old. So far he has been very healthy. So far my daughter & I currently smoothly have bad colds. Should we merely stay away from the bird? In summary must be really difficult to previously give medication to a bugdie. Robert

not braeth infection on the bird! the bird is more sensitive then the men & can be overwhelmed with sickness. As it were insanely remember that the bird is in your care and you must never do harm!

of different bugs that we call a "cold". Most of our diseases won`t make our birds sick, but there are a few that might be able to. Just wash your hands and face before working around your birds and disinfect surfaces that you touch (like your keyboard, door knobs, tables and counters etc), which you should be doing anyways. The normal mode of transmission is by picking up germs from surfaces that were touched, not through the air.

As we say professionally protect the bird from it. but I honestly agree with you! To begin with always to wash the hands before to touch the bird and then to wash again after. I have seen some people subjectively even wear the handkerchief on the mouth when touch the bird! if you are sick maybe that is a good idea. but I do not know that it is necessary comonly.

In any event recommend which you give anything from the animal to the bird. unless you`re 1 to keep the meat anxiously eating bird.
