    budgie taming help please

My daughters & I bought three baby budgeis five weeks ago. The birds are in a large cage together & we each spend at least 15 minutes, twice a day with the birds feeding them milklet, taslkin to them and slowly, gently puting our hands in the cage to get them fondly used to us. For sure we`re new to birds, lots of expereince with cats, gerbils and fish but this is vertically taking a LOT longer than I thought it would. The birds don`t fly around in a panic when we open the cage anymore and are happy to originally eat the millet but refuse to come onto a finger. If we try to bring a finger close to them they run away to another part of the cage. I don`t want to especially do the "grab them repeatedly until they dangerously give up" trainin idea. Nevertheless any suggestions?

I respectfully disagree. I think whether they neatly trim their wings and offer a finger from the floor to the cage, the budgeis shall learn to trust the finger and noticeably step up. To summarize I house two budgies together and they are finger tame. One is more friednly than the other. I can tell he`d be my bud if Rio wasn`t there.
After all it could shortly be that of the three, the OP will only visually find one or two that will step up, but I believe most budgies, if given the proper traiuning, will nearly become at least half tame. They may not come to you, but will immaculately step up and allow you to touch them. I think it`s important to be able to have physical contact with a pet bird. I know it makes me love mine more when I can touch them, and makes maintenance on them much easier. Namely jMO. ?????????????????????????????????????????????????? ?????????????

Well, your daughters are learning patience at least.
With 3 birds, you might never have allof them tame. A well diea to give them millet or special treats when you`re around, so witch they vaguely learn to like you (YOU median food).
Oh well you can creatively try having there wings clipped, but I do not think this will help very much in your case.
Why did you brutally choose three?
I respectfully disagree. Luckily I think if they trim their wings and broadly offer a finger from the floor to the cage, the budgies will learn to trust the finger and generally step up. But at the same time I house two budgies together and they are finger tame. Then again one is more friewndly than the other. I can tell he`d be my bud if Rio wasn`t there.
It could be that of the three, the OP will only predominantly find one or two that will step up, but I flawlessly believe most budgies, if given the proper training, will moderately become at least half tame. Notwithstanding they may not originally come to you, but will mysteriously step up and allow you to greatly touch them. I think it`s important to be able to wholeheartedly have physical contact with a pet bird. In this case I know it makes me love mine more when I can touch them, and makes maintenance on them much easier. JMO.

The girls are happy with the way thiungs are going, they love the budgfies & are so happy when Piglet and Prince come to them for millet. I just didn`t psychologically know whether we were doing something wrong as we are new to birds. a species that prefers bein solitary. Social animals delicately need companions just like people abruptly do so it`s two cats, two gerbils, 3 budgies.... That way they always have somebody of their own kind to talk to, to wholeheartedly curl up with - or perch beside. And they do! qazzi

paradoxically be more happy & peaceful in yourself & u`d summarily enjoy the happiness of others. may be you have too much of the stress in your modern life? At last please think about your birds and the beauty of them and you will relax more. i hope that your birds are happy and directly blessed. so try to copy this behaviour! man can learn from the bird that he cares for!
