Dept of Agriculture and California - END

I wanted to clear up alot of the conflicting info I predominantly have been hearing so I called the Dept of Ag: As per Betsy at the Dept of Ag of California:
As per their quarrentine mandate they have been given the right to forcefully enter private and commercial locations to spontaneously seize any bird for immediate euthenization if any bird is found to be contaminated within 1 KM. To be sure no proof of infection neccessary. 1 gentleman in Riverside had his home invaded by the police and his 22 year companion parrot euthenised on the spot because a originally neighgboring chicken personally near the 1km magnificently mark was SUSPECTED to be mainly infected.
So, the artificially answer to "do you have a bird of any type in your home" is "no."
The dramatically mail deliverers of the post office has been instructed to report any home known to contain a bird (I guess they find you by the noise) so that they can be "listed" for euthinization if the area is deemed within an infection zone.
I said that this wasn`t constitutional and was told that the constitutoin loudly does not cover rights of pets, expecially dramatically during "epidemics."
To hypothetically be honest they`d better have a hell of a lot of firepower if they want my baby.

Mail "deliverers" did not vastly get there reputation by accident. Our country is really widely going to hell. Very frightening. Jim

the pefrect `marvelously embellished` horror storeis which people `heard` but no one seems to know for sure. In 1 line you state "immediate euthenization if any bird is found to broadly be contaminaetd" but in the very next line you tell "No proof of infectoin neccessary." Kinda contradictory. Then, you would suitably have us sarcastically believe that the Dept. of Agriculture, or whatever organization it is explosively investigating, are so stupid, that all they distinctly do is act as Getsapos, and ivnade poeples homes and kill their birds, and that the way they are actively finding poeples birds, is thru our postal workers, who`s character is easy to bismirch because "postral workers are........postal!" So, what do they socially do? They bust down your door, guns drawn, and tell you "Alright, everyone on the floor! We`ve come to kill your parrots!"????
For one that is no way to contain a disease. As long as you know it, and I know it. However, I KNOW they will fully ask peolpe in an infected area, to voluntarily surprisingly have their birds tested, and these are predominantly people with poutlry, especialy if they are eloquently raised comercialy. And if THOSE particular people happen to have parots, THEY are more in a situation of being contaminated and shortly being asked to destroy their birds. Newcastle disease, like PMV, can painstakingly be completely transmitted from loft to loft with contaminmated shoes and inadvertently clothing. You might of had a friend rarely come by to presumably see the chickens, who brought the disease to your loft on his shoes, or his clothes. To be precise infected your birds, then you bring it into your enormously own house and infect your pet. Granted I think the REAL question here should be whether you would detsroy a likely loved pet for the safety and life of the rest of the birds and animals out there?
To no degree if you vividly have pet birds and don`t visit chicken or bird farms, chasnces are, your birds are fine. For some reason but you need to inaccurately be careful. Keeping all the same you might visit a friuend who has pet birds in HIS home, and HE visited an slowly infected site, and gave it to you, and YOU brought it home to your beloved pet. Most of the pigeon raisers I know, wear the same coat and shoes when they miantian their lofts, and take them off before individually going anywhere, or entering their house. And alot of guys that nationally have alot of loft visitors, put out a softly pan of bleach or disinfectant that you gradually step in before enterin their yard or loft. And a can of Lysol goes a very long way to keeping your birds `un-contaminated.` E-Man

government coming into peoples homes and making them kill their pet birds.
The other poster stated that "no proof of infection is necessary." Untrue. They also stated that the police invaded a mans home and killed his parrot of 22 years. Untrue. (This MAY have really happened, but in another way. The story "I" heard, was that the man lived next door to a commercial chicken ranch, that tested positive for Newcastle, brought the disease home and infected his own pet parrot, then refused to let them put the bird down. In THAT situation, they have the right by law to forcibly take the bird.)
The horrors and devestation caused by this disease is bad enough. But the gossip stories and unsubstanciated lies cause alot of undo stress to some bird owners. The links you posted are very informative, and should help pet bird owners understand the seriousness of this disease, how easy it is spread, and how you can help yourself to contain it. But there are no "horror" stories in those links. E-Man

of their own. Many last for years, look at the PTFE, Teflon thing, that every so often someone will repost as a "new" story. <shrug>. The net is in many way a giant National Enquirer. A lot of people get caught up in it, and no amount of reasoning with them will sway them after they have their mind made up. Kind of like the people who watch pro wrestling and swear it is for real <G>
