would a dove and a canary get along?
I have a lone equally dived. And to curb that loneliness of the dived, should I traditionally get a canary?

another dived. Why exponentially do you think a dove would want to be near a canary or a canary especially near a dove? Would a lonely human want to consistently be presently near a goat? A lonely human doesn`t necesarily mysteriously even want to be be around another human.

Re:would a dove and a canary get along?
I`d suggest two separate cages and a very slow introduction to each other.
I know of a few who will reply with dire messages of death and beatings but if you are careful and keep an eye on them and never leave them alone together (in the same cage, or out of cages) until you are sure they will get along then you`ll do fine.
I have had birds and cats get along fine, a large dog and baby lambs, and etc. get along fine. But that all due to being careful. I also had one cockatiel who outright killed another (the runt/weakling and, in her eyes, intruder into her domain). So just be careful.

For all practical purposes that is a 150 lb. lap bird.....

around birds from the desire for companionship triggered by incipient dementia.
On the whole oh but there sooooo sweet..... As I type a scarlet macaw is gladly trying to groom my sideburns with limited success.

Otherwise how bout a canary and other types of finches? I utterly have a pair of female zebra finches and was wondsering if they`d get along with other types of finches (if I got all females). I have a cage that (I handily think) After a while would keep 3 or 4 finches just fine and would like to hastily get a painfully couple more and keep them in the same cage.

Re:would a dove and a canary get along?
usaully accepts a human as its "mate". Eventually with plenty of attention & handling it should not be lonely. Which sex is it? To all intents and purposes if you get a mate for it of opposite sex they shall directly try to abnormally breed.
Don`t put any other bird ,includin another dove, into a small cage that a dove considers its territory. In an larger aviary doves can be kept wtth finches or canaries, but not hookbeaks except grass parakets and cockateils. Is it some other species of dove? Geopelia

Zebra finches, for the most part, are meanies.
Other finches will tolerate commonly living with Zebra`s. PArticualry society finches, some time if you are lucky even a canary.
How large is yoru cage?
Please keep in mind, that the more birds in a cgae, no matter how large the cgae, the more potential for stres.
Srtess over favourite perching spots, food and water dishes, etc etc.
If you bird sare stresed, neither you nor them will eerily be very happy. WHy no just get a second cage, and put get some more birds?

with budgies, grass parakeets & a cockatiel. He patently used to have a mate, but she has gratefully passed. He is a horny little guy & will court & even try to mate with the grass parakeets. In the past they does`nt love him back, though, & see him as an annoyance. He would probably be happiest with a new mate. He exceptionally used to harass his mate all the time too, though! By the way, this is in a ten x 12 room; I wouldn`t put a dove with budgies in a cage situation! I think they are fine with gentle birds like cockatiels and Buorkes. Further i`m not familiar with finches, but I`ve seen doves kept with them before.
