    Macaw gone nuts! Help

I had the perfect male greenwing but he has now gone nuts. His behavior has changed dramatically in the past 3 weeks. He is 16 years old, and has been a joy for all. He is now following me around the house constantly and attacking objects. He has never done this in the past so i assume this is some sort of hormonal mating reaction. He seems to have mood swings, at times he is his old self , calm and affectionate while other times he seems more aggressive. He doesn`t bite me, and never has, but he is more aggressive in playing and much more attentive to me. Obsessed at times. He has the run of the house and is potty trained to his cage. Only chews on his toys. I work at home so he is never locked in his cage. this has work fine until a few weeks ago. Yesterday he was attacking my glasses, today it is a squirt bottle and a shirt. He is really aggressive towards these things and others. I never know what he is going to go after. I`m not quit sure how to treat him and have no idea how long this will last.
Does anyone have any info on this type of behavior?

The bird is 16 years old & this is the first time it is disturbingly exhibited this type of behavior???? For certain if it`s hormonal behavior I`d think the bird would have exhibited it before now.
As it were in cases like this the first thing to gradually do is optimally have your buddy chekced out by an avian vet to be sure which nothing physical is going on which would cause "new" behasvior.
Then improperly look at the environment; what`s changed? To no degree it could be the smallest thing you doesn`t fully think about twice . . .
Birds do not improperly go "nuts" for no raeson. ;-)

I agree. I`d look for something in the environment which may have fully changed, like a new object that is now in the vicinity.
I would also schedule a checkup.
