Illegal Ringnecks sold in N.J.
A local bird store has been fined for selling illegal ringnecks in the State of New Jersey. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/16957799/ The State has agreed to issue special permits to the remaining ringnecks owners who have not been uncovered to date. You no longer need to hide. THIS IS NOT SCAM.
If you were sold a bird and were told it is an Australian Parakeet by this store, formerly located in Cinnaminson, NJ and now located in Delran, NJ, you will be issued a special permit. All you need do is to contact the NJ Fish & Wildlife Law Enforcement Division at 609-259-2120 or Linda Buono of the NJ Fish & Wildlife Permits Division at 908-735-5450 to confirm that you will receive a special permit. However, there are stipulations, and they are as follows:
1. The bird must have been purchased at the specific store.
2. You will need to identify the band letters and numbers, as all birds originated from the same breeder.
3. You must agree not to breed or rehome these birds.
If you still feel uncomfortable, and wish to make the call totally anonymous, you can block your number by dialing *67 prior to dialing either agency.
Thanks, birdscentral, for helping me to find these poor birds who are may otherwise risk confiscation by the State of New Jersey.

Post edited by: afroG, at: 2007/02/18 15:46
