    Sick, or typical mother?

I own a female sun conure, and she just layed an egg. We had no idea until last month that she was even a female! She's created a sort of nest at the bottom of her cage, using the scraps from the old blanket we used to covered her cage with every night. On the bottom of the cage, she's splayed out over her egg; her wings spread, and her feathers fluffed out. She sits there all day! I've heard that when a bird is sick, they sit on the bottom of their cages with their feathers puffed out... It my parrot sick? Or is this typical mother behavior for a conure? We are very new to this.

(If this makes any difference, we have no male conure.)

Hi Sun_conure, welcome to the forum

This is typical mother behavior for birds. Although these eggs are infertile as you know she cannot know that and thus is taking care of them as if they were fertile like in nature
