lovebird
Hi, Ive just aquired a very tame stray lovebird. He/she has now been adopted and I am totally besotted with this little bird. 'Archie' is perky, inquisitive, noisy and all the things I've read about. He's also schitzofrenic....Very tame, needy sometimes, and then out of the blue, a bite. My ear, nose or even my lip. This really takes me by surprise. Arichie's good with the family, grandson etc. so why does he change so quickly from a sweetie to a demon ? Any help or advice greatly appreciated. This is my first bird and trying hard to do all the right things ! Tinaxania

Tinaxania welcome to the forum
I hope you will like it here.
I think that sometimes individual animal behavior cannot be understood. Why they do the things they are doing. I know cats and dogs that behave in the same manner as you described above and it just can't be explained. There is however something you can do and that is firmly reprimand your lovebird when these things happen.

Re:lovebird
Hello
I have known people with only one tamed lovebird and after a year or so they get another lovebird as a company to the pet and the behavior is better than before. Sometimes this pets get angry with the owner or the mate (when they have one). I think it is normal. Each one of them show different characters tamed or not as people does. I own a pair of lovebirds and acted so different. One of them is extremely loving and sweet and eat with us and the other is not so tamed, she likes going with me on my head or shoulder but doesn´t like to be touched. I have had many lovebirds tamed and untamed. Enjoy his/her character and also she/he will know you better and everything will be fine.
which mutation is this lovebird? or which color?.

Re:lovebird
Hi, thanks for your reply. He (dont know if he or she, but he sounds better than it) is just as you say, with his own personality which I am getting to understand. He is a peach faced lovebird, I dont know his age but I think by his attitude and his love of humans not a young one. The nipping I understand to be part of his character and once reprimanded, he stops. He is really loveable, very cheeky and curious about everything. Whoever lost him must miss him very much. I just feel very lucky to have found him.

I am glad to hear that. You will enjoy your lovebird more and more and so will love him also. They are so cute ! If you can get some fresh corn still covered with that green stuff peal off it and give some to him. They love chewing that and also enjoy the natural corn, spinach, cucumber, everything fresh.
You are really lucky !
