just wondering!?!
ok so i have 3 beautiful canaries...one is a male and the other 2 are females...the male is a bright yellow and the 2 females are a white color one with a yellow tint and the other with an orange tint. but i noticed that the little orangish female was looking really fat and started acting funny she was playing with the papers under the cage like she was gonna make a nest but never did...well today i was about to put some more food in one of their bowls wen i looked into it i saw a little blue-ish egg...she is very moody and protective over this egg and wont let the other female around it but she will let the male around. i have a nest in there but she would rather use the food bowl...(good thing there is two). but my point is that i dont know if i should take the other two birds out or just the female...or should i let them be so that when the baby is born (if it is fertile) the other female gets to see and wont try to kill it. i know that this may not be the only egg she lays over the next few days but just what do i do now? do i let it be and see what happens?
NEED HELP ASAP!
thnx,

just wondering!?!
i think it depends on how much of a pest the other female is to the one with the eggs, if she is trying to take the hen's eggs or sit on them herself id be removing the extra female. I only say this as i have 10 canaries and this one female i have laid infertile eggs and so i took them out after 20 days and she started bullying the other females out of their nests so she could sit on them. In the end i had to remove her as she was harming the chances of the other females reproducing.. Now that my bossy hen is on her own she is fine and has a nest in the spare cage to herself. And all the other birds with eggs arnt worried about losing them.

Mandi, welcome to the forum
I think it's best to take the female without eggs out. I am not basing this on profound knowledge but simple precaution. It won't hurt the other female if she'd be in her own cage for a while
