    Male Cockatiel laying an egg

I have what I think is a male cockatiel (bright red spot on face). I noticed him sitting in the corner of the cage and realized he was sitting on an egg. Can this be so. I have a parakeet too but he is supposed to be a he (forgot how I think that) but the egg looks too big for parakeet egg. Can this be possible? Sorry best pic I could find quick of bird.

Sorry so confusing. I have a cockatiel. He was sitting on an egg yesterday. he is not staying on the egg full time but pretty good bit. he is three years old. i read that he is a male bc of the orangish/red circles on his cheeks. i guess it's just a simple case of a he really being a she.
