    feeding concerns in Mexico

My male yellow & black canary (Godzilla) consumes fruits and veggies voraciously, but only picks at the seed mix I supply fresh everyday, a locally bought product called "Trill". I have looked for other seed options but have found nothing else locally. (On my last trip to the states I bought a couple of different mixes, but they were confiscated by customs when I tried to bring them into Mexico.) I add a vitamin supplement to the mix and some extra sesame seeds. When I withhold the fresh treats Godzilla stands at the side of the cage, pecks at the veggie "holder" and tweets loudly until I give in and put something there. (I'm easily manipulated I guess!) Anyone have any suggestions? Or should I even be worried? He's active, seems healthy, and sings up a storm!!

I don't think you need to be worried. If he's healthy he's eating what's good for him

My canary doesn't touch veggies at all and of all fruits only likes apple - but he's healthy and seems very happy so I'm happy

(he also picks out the black seed from his seed-mix btw)

Thanks for the info. I won't worry about the food issue I guess.

But another concern. Here in Puerto Vallarta the summers are brutal...very hot, very very humid and severe thunderstorms almost daily in Jul, Aug and Sept. Godzilla lives on my patio. His cage will be protected from the rain, but what about heat and humidity? Should I be concerned about that?

    Thanks again.

Well the heat and humidity I wouldn't worry too much about but I would most certainly make sure no wind can come to him. Canaries die from wind....
