My Canary Laid an egg, now what
HI:
I’m new here and in search of reassurance. My canary (female, 2 yrs old) laid an egg this morning. She has built a fine nest and when I woke her up this morning she seemed off, actually let me touch her which she never does. So I picked her up and put her next to some water. She seemed to be breathing hard and pushing and after a few minuets I watched an egg pop out and fall and crack. About 10-20 min from when I woke her up. For one, she seemed to breath hard and struggle a bit before the egg came out, is that normal? I have kept her on a seed and fresh green diet with cuttlebone, grit, and egg feed. I had to go to work and when I got back she seemed fine but still a little restless and hoping into her nest after feasting on some grit. Should I expect more eggs? No male with her. And should I be worried about egg binding? Thank you
