I hope your bird is feeling better. Make sure she has plenty of calcium in her grit. Also, let her sit on fake eggs for as long as she wants to keep her from laying eggs too frequently, which is a strain on her system. A fecal test at your vet would be a good idea too. Contact these pigeon friendly sites for more advise.

Hi Florence....she was not struggling..just sat sleeping..we did take her back to the vet and they did put her to sleep...but u just keep hoping that she will buck up and recover. That is her in the picture. She was special because we brought her and her brother up from new born...they would fly into the house and sit with us...we have about 25 other doves...why her??? She and her brother bred...he is missing her...he comes in trying to woo our little shitsu dog...because he was raised with her he sees her as a mate.

Dovelover, it's painful. Always to lose a pet you love. At least you know she's not suffering anymore and you have all those lovely memories to hold on to

Hi Brian88...when unemployment due to credit crunch hits you for 18mths..sometimes people are forced to think of less costly methods..we didnt go down the leftover antibiotics..but you can understand why we considered it...We mentioned this to the vet and he said it would have been ok..if you overdosed..the bird would vomit anyway.
Better to try, than leave the bird to suffer..however, we managed the vet fees...
Hi Florence...thank you very much for your understanding...your quite right...always painful..lost many pets in our lifetime...but never gets any easier...
