Will pigeons fly at night to escape rain?

Hello all,

If rain falls on their roost at night, will pigeons fly away and find another perch to spend the night? My roommate says no.

Most birds including pigeons do not fly at night although they can, they just can't see well in the dark so can be dangerous for them to do so. They tolerate wet weather with no problem usually.
