I purchased "The Complete Guide to Raising Pet Birds for Profit: The Greatest Backyard Business Ever"
First the book is marked up over 300%. The book is poorly written and edited. About 15% of the book was copied verbatim for each of the four species of bird covered. Pictures were of poor quality and lacking in some important areas. I felt the book was incomplete and lacking enough information for what the title entails.
The information that is covered in the book can easily be found free on the internet. I've also found lots of free details on for building cages and boxes online as well, which is what the author attempts to sell you as well.
I'm upset with this author because he's still pitching this book as though it's a viable business when in fact it is NOT. There is no demand and in fact there is a surplus of suppliers.
I contacted the author and he acknowledged this fact and then stated that he didn't make me purchase his book and that the 300% markup was justified.
The author didn't make me buy his book but he is selling it under the pretense of it being a viable business and it was for this reason that I bought it. I wouldn't have purchased it otherwise.
I emailed twice afterwards asking about a refund and got no more replies.
I think this author is unethical. I put my book up for sale on Amazon but pulled it off because i didn't feel right trying to put someone else in the same position. Apparently, taking your $$ is the only thing this author is interested in.
I think anyone interested should search the internet and groups for free information or look elsewhere before dealing with this character.
