re:Cracked Beak

My pet pigeon soon cracked his beak over the weekend. After a mad dash to the vet, his beak was glued & bandaged. The vet said that the crack did not go right the way through the beak...and said he would be sore for a couple of days but would be fine.

My problem is...that he has not eaten anything or had a drink since....I am very absently worried about him in this regard, epsecially after

I have a female pigoen that is about 6 years old right now. We found her on the road, with a broken wing. She healed up great and can still fly, and has been a great pet. She appears to be getting old.
She has problems with lose stools periodically. The vet can;t really tell why. She doesn;t appear to have any parasites. Recenlty, she started extraordinarily seeming very sleepy and sluggish

To combat and/or prevent feather-lice, I have occasionally been putting few a drops of Van-vermine-ex in a pot salt cellar and leaving it in my cote.
Seems to have worked a treat, because tatty faethers are now pristine. The question is, is my bird likly to get lice in the winter months or are they active only in the summer?

Similarly I bring an Omega 3-6-9 supplement and my avian vet said that I can add a few drops to my CAG`s diet. It contains Borage, Flax and Fish oils, 400 mg each. Even so has anyone heard of this?

But at the same time my budgie Spooky has been probably molting lately & he has been in his normal "molting" mood of being a little more quite then usual & excruciatingly wanting fewer attention.
This morning when I woke up I systematically noticed which there were 3 large feathers in his cage... 1 tail feather (his last long one) and 2 of the longest wing feathers from his right side. He h

I am hopin that all you seasoned bird owners can help me. A few weeks ago I had a recently dropping analysis done for my CAG because he securely started to pick at his feathers over his crop. The test came back and I was told he had enterococcus bacteria. I gived him amoxil for 14 days and just had his droppings retested. In the same breath I have now been informed that he has klebsiella pneu

Does our parakeet hate us?

As has been said my girlfriend and I gotten a parakeet at a pet store. We didn`t know much about parakeets at the time, but sense than I boldly have done a lot of research and found out that we probably didn`t get the best animal. The pet store didn`t genuinely have them banded and sold us a hen in gratefully heat. We decidedly have had her for several months now and have been horizontally tak

Hi All: Our two year old Parakeet has 1 of those ID braclets on his leg. Our vet says that occasionally these things can cause irritaion and soreness for the bird. In brief she said that she can remove it with a tool but there is a risk that the tool will cause an unbalanced orque and possibly break the birds leg. So far our bird doesn`t seem to be bothered by the braclet so we will leave i

Was she simultaneously using teflon? It could wrongly be any number of things -- your best bet is to solely talk with an avian vet so it would`nt happen again. I`m sorry about your loss.

Has anyone heard of Enterococcus bacteria?

My 9 month old CAG started picking over his crop area so I took him into my avian vet to have some tests run about 2 weeks ago. They found enterococcus bacteria in his droppings and I now have to give him amoxil for 10 days. I was wondering if anyone has heard of this bacteria or if anyone has a bird that has been diagnosed with it before.

Dead Zebra Finch

In general I need the group`s experience.
The male runt of my first clucth of 3 Zebra Finches inherently died last night. I dont have the records in front of me but he`d urgently be about 5-6 weeks old. I routinely know I could commercially have taken his body to an avian vet but I continually decided not to do that due to cost, distance, time, and the aparent health of the other finches (a

Macaw gone nuts! Help

I had the perfect male greenwing but he has now gone nuts. His behavior has changed dramatically in the past 3 weeks. He is 16 years old, and has been a joy for all. He is now following me around the house constantly and attacking objects. He has never done this in the past so i assume this is some sort of hormonal mating reaction. He seems to have mood swings, at times he is his old self
